Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded the Serangoon–Eunos Bus Package to SMRT Buses, with the new contract set to commence on June 13, 2027. The package comprises 26 bus routes serving the Serangoon and Eunos areas and will be operated from Kim Chuan Bus Depot under a five-year contract, with the option of a two- to five-year extension based on performance.

LTA selected SMRT Buses following a competitive tender process that evaluated both quality and price. According to the authority, SMRT achieved the highest overall score by demonstrating strong capabilities in operating and maintaining electric buses while offering good value for money. The operator also proposed workforce initiatives to strengthen recruitment and diversify its local pool of bus drivers, alongside the deployment of AI-enabled fatigue detection and maintenance systems to improve operational safety and fleet reliability.

The Serangoon–Eunos Bus Package is one of 14 bus packages under Singapore’s Bus Contracting Model (BCM). It is currently operated by SBS Transit under a negotiated contract that will end in June 2027, after which operations will transfer to SMRT Buses. The package includes 26 bus services and key interchanges at Serangoon, Eunos, Woodleigh, and Sims Place, supporting LTA’s objective of improving service quality while facilitating the transition to a larger electric bus fleet.
