PT Samudera Indonesia Tbk (SMDR) has announced its plans for the construction of a new container terminal in Kalimantan. The new facility will span an area of 2 hectares and have an annual handling capacity of up to 200,000 TEUs. The estimated investment in the project is about Rp 500 billion. Construction is expected to take off in 2014. The project, which will take at least two years to complete, is expected to be funded through the issuance of new shares or bonds. SMDR, with its headquarters in Jakarta, is engaged in shipping, transport, and logistics.
