Austral Techsmith Sdn Bhd, has commenced installation works on its Elab 01 smart street poles across Malaysia to support the rollout of 5G services. The smart poles will provide seamless integration for numerous network services and facility provider functions.
The Elab 01 uses a single pole measuring 18m to house multiple connections such as 5G, 4G, wifi routers, power units and even a smart streetlight function. In comparison to the traditional poles and cabinet designs where extra space beside the pole is needed for obtrusive containers like power generators, the rollout reportedly has impressed key 5G stakeholders.
The Elab 01 will be able to support several connections such as 5G, 4G, wifi routers, power units, as well as smart streetlight function on a single 18-meter pole. The smart poles have a lower visual and carbon footprint compared to traditional structures and cabinet designs, which require additional space beside the pole for visible containers such as power generators.
