The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) has stated that six companies have shown interest in bidding for the PhP 381 million project that involves the replacement of rail tracks of line rail transit (LRT) Line 1. These companies are DM Consunji, Joratech Corporation, Sumitomo Corporation, Daxi S.A., Jorgman Planning and Development Corporation, and JD Legaspi Construction. More specifically, 23 km of rail tracks that have been flattened and thinned due to wear and tear over the past 30 years will be replaced. Replacement work is expected to start in the third week of March 2013 and will be completed in three years.
