The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has launched the pilot trial for an electric harbour craft’s charging point in Marina South Pier. The charging point was developed by Pyxis Maritime, Pyxis Energy, and SP Mobility. The 150 kW charger will charge up an electric harbour craft with a battery capacity of about 500 kWh in approximately three hours and facilitate an operating range of 90 km.
To charge, the users will have to scan a QR code through the SP app and complete the payment.
Also, MPA is in discussions with Enterprise Singapore, and other companies to develop a technical reference for a battery swap system and electric harbour craft charging, for which the draft will be prepared by mid-April 2024.
By 2030, the new harbour craft will be electric as well as will be able to employ cleaner biofuels or be fully compatible with net-zero (NZ) fuels like hydrogen.
