The Government of Singapore has introduced autonomous minibuses and logistics vehicles to address labour shortages in public transport and logistics. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) plans to deploy these vehicles on less complex routes initially, with safety drivers onboard. As trials progress, the LTA aims to expand routes and integrate more autonomous vehicles (AVs), including electric robo-sweepers and logistics vehicles that have already been successfully tested.

The government is focusing on scaling these vehicles to reduce risk, with performance data closely monitored under Singapore’s dense urban conditions. The approach is to minimise risk and ensure AVs are ready for real-world operation.
