Singapore Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded two major civil contracts worth approximately SGD735 million (USD579 million) for the construction of new stations under the Downtown Line 2 Extension (DTL2e). Construction of both stations is scheduled to commence in the second quarter of 2026, with passenger service targeted to begin in 2035.

A contract valued at about SGD285 million has been awarded to Woh Hup Engineering for the design and construction of the underground DE1 station along Sungei Kadut Avenue. The scope includes a vehicular bridge extending Choa Chu Kang North 7 and a pedestrian bridge over Pang Sua Canal linking Yew Tee, DE1 station and the Rail Corridor. The contractor will also undertake tunnelling works between DE1 and the DE2 interchange station.

A separate contract worth approximately SGD450 million has been awarded to a joint venture between Samwoh Corporation and China Communications Construction Company (Singapore branch) for the design and construction of the NS6/DE2 interchange station. The works comprise an underground DE2 station on the Downtown Line and a connected aboveground NS6 station located between Yew Tee and Kranji on the North-South Line.

The DTL2e project will comprise three stations, including DE1 and DE2, positioned along Sungei Kadut Avenue and Sungei Kadut Central. Construction will utilise Earth Retaining and Stabilising Structures (ERSS) to address challenging ground conditions, including hard granite. Given the proximity to existing North-South Line operations, works will be coordinated with SMRT to minimise service disruption, with most activities affecting train operations scheduled during non-operating hours. Real-time monitoring systems and environmental mitigation measures will be implemented throughout construction.

The extension is expected to enhance rail connectivity in Singapore’s north-west region, improving access to Yew Tee, the Sungei Kadut Eco-District, the Rail Corridor and Pang Sua Park Connector.
