The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded two civil contracts with a combined value of USD641.9 million for the design and construction of Cross Island Line Phase 1 (CRL1) stations in Singapore.

The first contract, valued at USD346.9 million, was awarded to a joint venture (JV) company comprising Gamuda Bhd and Wai Fong Construction. The JV will oversee the design and construction of the Defu station and its associated tunnels. The second USD294.9 million was secured by China Communications Construction Company Limited (CCCC) for the design and construction of Tampines North station and tunnels.

Construction work on both these stations are expected to commence in Q2 of 2022.

The CRL is Singapore’s eighth MRT line and is being developed in phases to service existing and prospective projects in the east, north-east, and west corridors. Spanning from Aviation Park to Bright Hill, the CRL1 is 29 km long and will have 12 stops.
