Singapore’s Changi Airport was named the world’s best airport for the eighth consecutive year at the World Airport Awards 2020. The award ceremony was to be held in Paris, France, on April 1, 2020. However, the event was cancelled in the wake of the novel coronavirus pandemic. The awards were later announced on May 10, 2020 through a virtual ceremony.

The airport has several modern and innovative features like orchid and butterfly gardens and a rooftop pool. Besides the Jewel Changi Airport, a mixed-use complex which was inaugurated in April 2019, bolstered its reputation further.

The World Airport Awards began in 1999, when UK-based consultancy firm Skytrax launched its first Airport Customer Satisfaction survey. The awards are recognised as a quality benchmark for the world airport industry, assessing customer service and facilities across over 550 airports. The survey evaluates traveller experience across different airport service and product key performance indicators – from check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security and immigration through departure.
