The Government of Singapore has increased its national solar deployment target to 3 GWp by 2030, following the early achievement of its previous 2 GWp goal.

The government will continue installing solar panels across all suitable sites, including public housing rooftops and other viable urban spaces. Officials indicated that future targets may be reviewed upward as technology improves and additional deployment opportunities are identified. Singapore has also been expanding floating solar systems and maximizing rooftop installations to optimise limited land availability.

In parallel, Singapore is advancing plans to import low-carbon electricity from regional partners to complement domestic solar capacity and enhance energy security. The government reiterated that achieving net-zero emissions will depend on technological innovation and international cooperation, acknowledging structural limitations while maintaining a steady transition pathway.
