Ministry of National Development has reaffirmed that electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure installed in public housing car parks complies with national fire safety and technical standards as EV adoption expands across Singapore.
In a parliamentary response, the ministry stated that all Housing & Development Board (HDB) car parks are designed and constructed in accordance with the national Fire Code established by the Singapore Civil Defence Force. Existing safety features include hose reels, fire engine access and natural or mechanical ventilation systems to manage smoke and heat in the event of a fire.
The ministry also noted that all EV chargers deployed in HDB car parks must comply with Technical Reference 25 (TR25), Singapore’s nationwide standard governing EV charging systems. The standard sets technical and safety requirements for charger installation and operation.
