The Government of Singapore will provide SGD1 billion in funding to the Land Transport Authority (LTA) to improve first- and last-mile connectivity, expand linkways, upgrade bus stops, and retrofit pedestrian overhead bridges over the next decade. This move is part of the broader Friendly Streets initiative to promote active and inclusive mobility options across Singapore.
The LTA plans to extend the existing network of covered linkways within an 800-metre radius, upgrading around 5,000 bus stops to be more senior-friendly and implementing strict laws and regulations for the misuse of mobility scooters by 2025.
