The Land Transport Authority (LTA) will begin upgrading platform screen doors (PSDs) at 15 underground MRT stations across the North-South Line (NSL) and East-West Line (EWL) starting August 2025. The works, aimed at replacing key components such as the pneumatic systems, doorway drives, control units, and mechanical parts, will continue in phases until March 2027. The current screen doors have been in service for over 30 years.

LTA confirmed that train services and frequencies will remain unaffected during the works. At any one time, no more than three PSDs per platform will be under maintenance. The upgrade schedule begins at Marina Bay station (August–December 2025), followed by Braddell, Toa Payoh, Bugis, and Lavender (December 2025–April 2026). Somerset, Tanjong Pagar, Outram Park, and NSL platforms at City Hall will undergo works from April to August 2026. Between August and December 2026, upgrades will take place at EWL platforms at City Hall and Raffles Place, and at Orchard and Dhoby Ghaut. The final phase from December 2026 to March 2027 will cover Novena, Newton, Tiong Bahru, and the NSL platforms at Raffles Place. Signage will guide commuters during the upgrade period.
