Singapore Land Transport Authority (LTA) will take over the control of electric vehicle (EV) chargers from the Energy Market Authority (EMA) under a new law passed by the Parliament of Singapore. LTA will spearhead the attempts to evaluate technical requirements and safety measures for EVs under the new legislation while also developing EV charging standards in the future. Fixed chargers will be installed in accordance with the new requirements.

The current deployment and maintenance of EV charging infrastructure is inefficient as it lacks control of the policies that regulate proper installation, and no government body is currently in charge of managing non-fixed charging methods such as battery swapping.
