Singapore Airlines Group (SIA) has announced a voluntary carbon offset scheme that will allow customers to offset their own carbon footprints via dedicated microsites across its passenger and freight airlines. For the first six months after the program’s start, SIA and Scoot Tigerair Private Limited (Scoot) will match the offsets that these consumers purchase. Customers of SIA Cargo will be able to offset their emissions through a dedicated microsite starting in July 2021. From the fourth quarter of 2021, corporate clients will be able to participate in the programme as well.
From the fourth quarter of 2021, SIA customers will be able to use their KrisFlyer miles and HighFlyer points to offset their carbon emissions as part of the offset programme. The offsets will be delivered using Tasman Environmental Markets’ (TEM) BlueHalo digital solution. Customers can immediately calculate and offset the emissions related to their journey.
