Siemens has secured a Euro 90 million contract from Singapore’s LTA to deploy the communications-based train control (CBTC) signalling system including driverless grade of automation 4 (GoA4) and platform screen doors for the upcoming Downtown Line 3 (DTL-3) extension. The extension will span 2.2 km from Expo to Sungei Bedok and cover two stations. Commercial operations are scheduled to commence in 2024.
The existing Downtown Line spans a total of 42 km and covers 34 stations. Average daily ridership is 500,000 passengers.
