Seven companies from five countries have partnered with the Jakarta Monorail Company to build Indonesia’s first monorail system; construction is expected to start early next year. Jakarta Monorail and its new parent company, Ortus Holdings, have signed an agreement with Indonesian telecommunications company Indosat, Germany-based TUV Rheinland Group, Thailand-based Bangkok Mass Transportation System, Singapore-based ST Electronics and SMRT International, and China-based Changchun Railway Vehicles and China Communications Construction. Now, a feasibility study will be conducted to determine the best construction methods for the $808 million project.
