Thailand-based Seudamgo is set to acquire 10 electric hydrofoil ferries to operate between mainland Thailand and Koh Kood Island in Trat province. The new vessels, part of a series introduced in 2023, mark a step toward cleaner, faster, and more efficient regional water transport.

Each ferry will measure 11.99 metres in length and 4.5 metres in beam, with a displacement of 9.5 tonnes. Designed for single-crew operation, the vessels feature air-conditioned cabins with seating for 20 passengers and dedicated luggage space. The design aims to lower operational costs while maintaining passenger comfort and performance.

Powered by 378 kWh battery packs driving two podded thrusters, the ferries can reach service speeds of 25 knots, completing the 20-nautical-mile route in about 40 minutes. The thruster configuration also enhances manoeuvrability, allowing for precise berthing in confined harbours through sideways crabbing.
