Singapore’s Energy Market Authority (EMA) has appointed Sembcorp Utilities to build, own and operate a 200 MWh energy storage system (ESS) on Jurong Island. Work on the ESS project is expected to be completed by the end of 2022.

This new project will increase Sembcorp’s total battery storage portfolio capacity to 624 MWh as well as increase its total renewables portfolio to 7 GW in operation and under development.

The company is now aiming to achieve 10 GW of installed RE energy by 2025.
