Singapore’s Ministry of Transport (MOT) has announced that the second phase of the Cross Island Line (CRL) will be operational by 2032. The 15-km-long phase 2 will include the opening of six new stations namely Turf City, King Albert Park, Maju, Clementi, West Coast and Jurong Lake District stations. Interchanges will be provided to existing mass rapid transit (MRT) lines including the Downtown Line and East-West Line.

Environmental impact studies for the CRL2 project have been completed. Construction work is scheduled to commence in 2023.

The CRL is Singapore’s eighth MRT line, with the longest fully underground network spanning 50 km. It will be built in three phases. All civil contracts for work on Phase 1 have been awarded. Construction is underway with completion scheduled for 2030. Engineering studies are currently ongoing for Phase 3.

Once completed, the entire MRT line is expected to receive over one million passengers daily.
