Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) has awarded a €40 million turnkey contract for reconstructing the 275 kV Tudan substation in Sarawak. Under the contract, Alstom will supply the necessary civil works and other related products for the substation’s upgrade, including a new 275 kV switchyard and two new 240 MVA autotransformers. It will also relocate existing systems and auxiliaries from the present site to the new substation location. The project will be completed in phases over the next 41 months. Once completed, it will strengthen the Sarawak grid for electricity supply to the Miri population. This contract is Alstom’s second project with SEB and the fourth substation project executed in Sarawak. Alstom is currently constructing two supercritical coal-fired power plants, Manjung and Tanjung Bin.
