Malaysian state-owned company Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad (Prasarana) has contracted with Sweden-based Scania to deliver 360 city buses. The Scania city bus model – Scania K 250 UB4x2 – is configured with a low-floor chassis and safety features such as handicap access capability for all passengers. It is equipped with a ramp for full wheelchair access and two docking slots with seatbelts for safe wheelchair anchorage. The body of the bus is made of aluminium to reduce weight and fuel consumption, as well as to extend vehicle life. These buses will operate in the cities of Kuantan and Kuala Lumpur.
