SBS Transit has signed a 15-year contract with Motorola Solutions, valued at SDG14 million, to maintain and support the TETRA (Terrestrial Trunked Radio) communication system across its Downtown Line and Punggol Light Rapid Transit (LRT) system in Singapore.
TETRA has been integral to SBS Transit’s operations, facilitating team communication, passenger announcements, and emergency call responses. The services offered by Motorola include remote network monitoring, local support, cyber resilience services, and regular system updates to ensure secure communication between frontline workers and command centres. SBS Transit operates a fleet of 8,700 TETRA radios.
In 2023, SBS Transit saw an 18 per cent surge in ridership, with 428 million passenger trips, reinforcing the importance of reliable rail services in Singapore’s public transport landscape.
