SBS Transit has extended its maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) agreements with Siemens Mobility for the Downtown MRT Line in Singapore. These extensions reinforce the long-term service support (LTSS) for Siemens’ systems previously installed on the line, including the Trainguard Sirius Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) signalling system.

The second agreement established a local maintenance centre at the operator’s Component Service Centre. This new depot will specialise in point machines, becoming the first authorized point machine maintenance centre in Southeast Asia for the MCEM91 point machines used by SBS.

Moreover, Siemens Mobility and SBS have renewed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) initially signed in 2022. This MoU focuses on continuing the implementation of Siemens’ Controlguide Airo, an AI-based tool designed to optimise train deployments. Controlguide Airo uses data analytics to predict crowd levels on trains and at stations, automatically adjusting train schedules to meet passenger demand. This partnership with Siemens Mobility aims to enhance engineering competency and ensure the safe and reliable operation of the country’s expanding rail network.
