Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd (Sarawak Metro) has received two bids for delivery of equipment for the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) Project in Malaysia. The tender for the KUTS Project’s System Package 1 includes the delivery of hydrogen-powered autonomous rapid transit (ART) rail cars, signalling and control system (S&CS), depot equipment and maintenance vehicles (DEMV) and automatic platform gates (APG).
The first bid was received from a joint venture (JV) company comprising CRRC Company Limited, CHEC Construction (M) Sdn Bhd and KACC Construction Sdn Bhd while the second bid was submitted by JV comprising of of EPR (Kuching) Sdn Bhd, Global Rail Sdn Bhd and Mobilus Sdn Bhd.
Additionally, Sarawak Metro has also announced plans to call for tenders for System Package 2 by Q2 of 2022.
The second package includes the delivery of automatic fare collection (AFC), communication system (COMMS), supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), computerised maintenance management system (CMMS), operation control centre (OCC) and information technology system (ITS).
