The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) will install approximately 300 smart meters at three camps under a pilot programme to optimise water and electricity usage. The project aims to improve the quality and quantity of specific data available to reduce energy consumption. By April 2022, the smart meters will be deployed at the Jurong Camp, Paya Lebar Airbase and Changi Naval Base.

The pilot will continue for a period of 12-24 months before a full-scale roll-out of the smart meters across all camps in Singapore.

The pilot programme is part of the SAF’s commitment to offset carbon emissions from its activities by two-thirds by 2030. The agency is also targeting reducing water consumption by 10 per cent and waste generation by 30 per cent by 2030.
