The cross-border Johor Bahru–Singapore RTS Link remains on schedule for a January 2027 launch, despite ongoing global energy market volatility.
The project has entered the system installation phase, with major civil construction nearing completion. As this stage involves limited fuel consumption, the project is expected to remain largely insulated from rising energy costs linked to global geopolitical tensions.
The RTS Link will be operated by RTS Operations Pte Ltd, a joint venture between Prasarana Malaysia Berhad and SMRT Corporation. The operator is expected to submit its fare proposal in the third quarter of 2026, with final pricing to be jointly approved by both governments before public announcement by year-end.
Authorities are also considering the introduction of a season pass for frequent cross-border commuters, although this would likely require government subsidies and further bilateral coordination.
