RapidKL will add at least 1,000 new buses to its fleet in Klang Valley, Malaysia by the end of 2023. Expanding its capacity will ensure the efficiency of public transport and is expected to increase the utilisation of buses by an additional 40 per cent.

Additionally, around 150 buses are being refurbished and will be added back to regular operations by the end of 2023. The Ministry of Transport (MOT) also plans on integrating different bus services in the city. 

Currently, bus services in Klang Valley is managed by Rapid Bus, a unit of RapidKL, the free GoKL buses operated by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and the Smart Selangor buses. The city needs around 4,000 buses to efficiently meet passenger demand, however, only 724 buses are operational as of now.
