The Mass Rapid Transit Corporation (MRT Corp) has awarded the O&M of Klang Valley MRT-1 to Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Prasarana. MRT-1 is scheduled to begin partial operations in December 2016. The contract is valid for 10 years and includes the option to be extended by five years. Rapid Rail will retain the fare revenue and maintain the assets. MRT Corp will retain the non-fare revenue (from advertising and retail leasing) and undertake major refurbishment.
