The Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) has partnered with Maya Bank Incorporated to launch a QR code-based ticketing system on the Light Rail Transit (LRT)-1 line in Metro Manila, Philippines.
Passengers can now purchase single use tickets on the Maya banking or the ikotMNL app and scan the QR code at the fast lanes at all LRT1 stations. LRMC is also looking to launch an express lane exclusively for beep card and QR ticket users.
The contactless payment method is expected to improve rider experience on the urban transit line.
