Indonesian mobile network operator PT XL Axiata Tbk has announced the completion of the third trial of fifth-generation (5G) technology at its headquarters in Jakarta, demonstrating the ability of 5G to communicate virtually through a holographic display. The 5G trials are being supported by PT Ericsson Indonesia, which is providing the necessary equipment. Besides, PT XL Axiata Tbk has been undertaking a wide-scale fiberisation upgrade programme to support the data capacity required for 5G. Under the programme, the company has deployed fibre in all provincial capitals and major cities in Java, Madura, Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Bali and Lombok.
