PT PGN LNG Indonesia, part of Pertamina’s Gas Subholding, has partnered in the development of a gasification project in North Papua. This initiative aims to enhance the region’s gas supply chain by developing LNG infrastructure to support seven power plants with a total capacity of 168 MW. The project requires an average gas supply of 20.83 BBTUD for the next 20 years, contributing to Indonesia’s Net Zero Emission 2060 target.
The project is being executed by the Papua Bersama Consortium, which includes PT Pertamina International Shipping, PT PGN LNG Indonesia, PT Enviromate Technology International, and PT APCA Tirta Engineering. The initiative underscores the importance of strengthening energy security and collaboration between various sectors to ensure a stable and sustainable energy supply in North Papua. The Joint Development Agreement (JDA) has been signed, accelerating the next steps of design, funding, and construction for the project.
