PT Mass Rapid Transit Jakarta (PT MRT Jakarta) has collaborated with local start-ups Jejak.in, Rekosistem and Jakarta Bike hub to launch several services to promote green transport.

PT MRT Jakarta has added Jejak.in’s carbon calculator to its mobile app allowing users to track and record their carbon footprints for each MRT trip.

The initiative with Rekosistem focuses on a smart waste management system for plastic recycling. MRT stations have smart garbage bins where the passengers can discard their waste. For each plastic bottle that is disposed, the passenger gets IDR100 in eMoney. Rekosistem has also set up a spot for the collection of inorganic waste outside the Blok M Station.

Lastly, under the initiative with Jakarta Bike hub ,PT MRT has introduced a bicycle-sharing system at the stations for passengers to rent for IDR3,000.

The aim of these collaborations is to increase awareness among the urban population and increase eco-friendly practices. This will also align with the government’s development projects to increase sustainability in the city’s transportation systems and reduce carbon emissions.
