Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation (PSPC) has inaugurated its import terminal in Batangas City, increasing its ability to meet fuel demand in Metro Manila, Southern Luzon and Northern Visayas.

The Shell Import Facility in Tabangao (SHIFT) has a storage capacity of up to 263 million litres and jetties with loading arms, which make product distribution safer and faster, provide smoother operations with greater durability, and allow for Emergency Release Action without spilling product or polluting the environment. Its jetties are built to receive cargo from a variety of boats, including medium-range (MRs) import vessels. MRs have a capacity of 30 to 50 million litres of petroleum products such as gasoline and diesel. Shell can load a 30kl truck in 20 minutes using the loading gantries at SHIFT, which have a bottom loading function.

The SHIFT facility will be entirely powered by a combination of solar, geothermal, and hydro energy. The onsite solar farm includes 5,220 solar panels and seven inverters, with a total capacity of 300 MWh.
