The Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corporation (PSALM) is planning to auction independent power producer administrator (IPPA) contracts for the 640 MW Unified Leyte geothermal power complex in October 2013. The organisation has invited interested corporations, partnerships, electric cooperatives, distribution utilities, and directly connected power consumers to participate and bid for the selection of the IPPAs. Interested parties can bid for capacity totalling 240 MW (of which 40 MW will serve as PSALM’s secure capacity) in blocks ranging from 1 MW to 40 MW. The Unified Leyte geothermal power complex has a dependable capacity of 588.5 MW; it includes the Upper Mahiao plant (125 MW); the Malitbog plant (232.5 MW); the Mahanagdong plant (180 MW); and optimisation plants (51 MW).
