The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has commenced pre-feasibility studies for the 54.8-km-long Mindanao Railway Project (MRP) Phase 3 in the Philippines. In line with this, the agency has signed a feasibility study contract for the project with the joint venture (JV) of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India LLP and ASA Law Firm.

Phase 3 will connect Cagayan de Oro to Laguindingan and Villanueva, Misamis Oriental. The entire system spans 1,544 km and will connect Davao, General Santos, Cotabato, Zamboanga and Surigao.

In 2023, the Public-Private Partnership Center of the Philippines granted the MRP Phase 3 funding of  PHP100 million for feasibility study under the Project Development and Monitoring Facility.
