PLN is planning to procure equipment from foreign suppliers for the ongoing Java-Bali 500 kV power transmission project in Indonesia. The project is being funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), which has committed $224 million for the project. Despite ADB’s loan commitment, the project requires additional funding of $161 million, which will be raised by PLN. The procurement is expected to be completed within the next 18 months. The packages for which the procurement is either ongoing or expected to be undertaken within the next 18 months are Package I, which includes the construction of a 131 km transmission line in Java and a 75 km transmission line in Bali at an estimated cost of $129 million, and Package II, which includes construction of the New Kapal substation and extension of the Paiton substation.
