State-run power generation company Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) is looking forward to obtaining an additional annual coal supply of 28 mmt following the government’s instruction to set up more coal-fired power plants with a combined generation capacity of up to 7,000 MW. The government had originally proposed to add 10,000 MW capacity under its second fast-track programme, of which 6,000 MW was to be sourced from hydro-powered and geothermal plants, with the remainder to be acquired from coal-powered plants.
