PLDT is planning to invest about PhP 1 billion to roll out 15,000 km of a new optical fibre cable network in 2014, thus extending the group’s total fibre network to about 100,000 km. The operator is of the view that the extended fibre cable network will enable it to support growing data traffic and bandwidth requirements of customers.
