PLDT Incorporation has announced plans to enhance its data capacity with the Asia Direct Cable (ADC), a subsea network linking the Philippines to key Asia-Pacific markets. The ADC, expected to be operational this quarter, will complement PLDT’s Jupiter Cable System and provide a direct link to major content hubs in Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore.
Once active, the ADC will raise PLDT’s international capacity beyond 100 Tbps, improving connectivity for businesses and consumers. PLDT executives emphasized its role in strengthening the Philippines’ appeal as a hub for hyperscalers and multinational firms. Spanning 9,988 km, the USD75 million project was built by NEC Corporation and funded by a consortium of telecom firms, including China Telecom, Singtel, SoftBank, and Tata Communications.
