Bangkok Port Development Committee has announced plans to redevelop Klong Toey Port into a smart port in Thailand. The plans for land use will be discussed in October 2024. The sub-committees will be set up to look at land use, space management, and community welfare.

The 2,300-rai Klong Toey Port will be modernised into a smart port and a part of the land will be developed for both private and public use, with companies like Central Group involved. The project also includes plans for community housing.

Also, as for oil storage facilities located at the port, a review of their leases will determine if they need to be moved. If relocation is needed, Laem Chabang Port in Chon Buri could be an alternative site.
