The Government of Cambodia has announced plans to develop an Automatic Guideway Transit (AGT) system in Phnom Phen. Japan-based Yokohama Seaside Line Company is providing consulting services to the Public Works and Transport Ministry of Cambodia on AGT operations and management.

AGT is a fully automated, driverless, grade-separated transit system in which vehicles run on rubber tyres. In August 2017, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) agreed to provide funding for construction. The feasibility study is currently under way and expected to be completed by May 2018. Revenue service is expected to start operations by 2023.
