Therma South Incorporated, a wholly owned subsidiary of thePhilippines’ Aboitiz Power Corporation, has sought the Energy Regulatory Commission’s approval to develop and operate a 138 kV transmission line inDavao. Under the proposed PhP 80 million project, Therma South will connect its PhP 25 billion 300 MW coal-fired power plant, presently underway inDavao, to the National Grid Corporation of thePhilippines’ (NGCP) Toril substation. According to the draft memorandum of agreement with NGCP, Therma South will be responsible for the financing and construction of the line. Thermal South will be the owner and operator of the new transmission asset. However, it has the option of transferring the responsibility of operating and maintaining the line to NGCP at a later date.
