The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) will begin a PHP700 million structural rehabilitation of LRT-1 in April 2025, targeting completion by February 2027. The project includes repairs across all stations and viaducts from Baclaran to Fernando Poe Jr. Station, with a focus on crack repairs and structural upgrades. Funded by the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the project awaits full release of subsidies.
Meanwhile, delays continue in the Cavite Extension Project due to right-of-way conflicts, notably a flyover built on the planned alignment. While the first phase to Parañaque is done, redesigns are underway for the remaining sections. Once completed, LRT-1 is expected to serve up to 800,000 daily riders, cutting travel time between Pasay and Bacoor, Cavite, to 25 minutes.
