The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) have signed an agreement with Grab Philippines and Megaworld to pilot a drone-based delivery system in the country. The initiative, formalised through a memorandum of understanding (MoU), will explore the potential of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in addressing urban delivery challenges, particularly in high-traffic zones.

The study will test a hybrid model where traditional Grab riders handle pickups and drop-offs at drone landing stations, while drones manage the mid-point journey. The pilot, launched during the DICT Digital Bayanihan Roadshow in Dumaguete City, aims to evaluate the viability of drone deliveries across both urban and underserved areas.
