The Philippines Department of Transportation (DOTr) has ended its contract with the BF Corporation and Foresight Development and Surveying Company (BFC-FDSC) Consortium over repeated delays in constructing the Unified Grand Central Station. This station is a crucial link designed to connect the LRT-1, MRT-3, and MRT-7 lines, aiming to improve commuter connectivity in Metro Manila.
Originally awarded in 2019, the project has faced numerous setbacks, including location disputes, stakeholder concerns, and pandemic-related interruptions. Construction was first slated to start in 2017 with completion targeted for 2019, but has since been postponed multiple times. The termination allows the department to seek faster ways to complete the station, potentially using provisions under the New Government Procurement Act or the Public-Private Partnership Code.
