The Philippines Department of Transportation (DOTr) has been advancing two major metro projects in Metro Manila. For MRT-7, an independent consultant will be appointed with a PHP573.7 million budget to review design changes by the concessionaire San Miguel Corporation (SMC). The 22.8 km line, linking Quezon City to San Jose del Monte, has undergone adjustments, including station relocations and depot changes to improve connectivity and reduce disruption. Partial operations are expected by late 2025, with full completion potentially delayed to 2028.

DOTr also confirmed that construction of the 15.6 km MRT-4 line will begin in 2026, supported by USD 1 billion in funding from the Asian Development Bank. The elevated line will connect Taytay in Rizal to the EDSA-Ortigas interchange. Initially planned as a monorail, MRT-4 has faced delays from its original 2021 schedule. Upon completion, it is projected to serve over 400,000 daily passengers.
