The Philippines Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has signed an MoU with the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) to provide support to the latter to help commence and complete high voltage projects on time. Under the agreement, the DILG shall endorse the NGCP’s requests for the enactment of local ordinances prohibiting the planting of trees and hazardous activities, and introduction of structures within right-of-way (RoW) corridors of transmission and distribution lines. The DILG will likewise immediately provide the necessary police assistance in maintaining public order and preventing violence in the NGCP’s implementation of writs of possession or injunction duly issued by courts to private properties in connection with their repair, rehabilitation, restoration and maintenance activities.
