China-based Feng Chuen New Energy Power Technology Company Limited (Feng Chuen) has been contracted to deliver 35 electric jeepneys (e-jeeps) to Bacolod City in the Philippines. Delivery of the electric vehicles will commence in October 2023, with the last unit expected to arrive before the end of November 2023. These e-jeeps will be used as public utility vehicles (PUVs) and are a part of the purchasing contract signed between the Cebu People’s Multi-Purpose Cooperative and Feng Chuen in July 2023.

The 22-seater e-jeep will incorporate advanced new energy technologies, which will reduce emissions, improve energy utilisation efficiency and contribute to the sustainable development of the country. Each unit has a 60 KWh battery capacity with a maximum speed of 60 km/hr and a driving range of 140 km.

A technical working group (TWG) will be created to determine the locations of the charging stations.
