The Department of Energy (DOE) of the Philippines endorsed 17 power generation projects to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) in June 2025, highlighting the country’s continued push for renewable energy and battery storage. These include 14 new projects and three amendments, featuring technologies such as wind, solar, hydro, geothermal, and battery energy storage systems (BESS). Of the 17 projects, 15 are renewable energy facilities, while two are BESS projects, one of which is hybridised with solar.
Key projects include CI San Jose Corporation’s 1,246 MW Roxas Onshore Wind Power Project in Oriental Mindoro and Philippine New Energy Development Incorporation’s 500 MW Cebu Wind Energy Project. Embrace Nature Power1 Corporation’s 180 MW agrovoltaic solar project in General Santos City also received approval and will integrate a 96 MW / 192 MWh BESS. Additionally, RE Resources Incorporation updated its San Manuel Solar Power Plant in Pangasinan to a revised 92.545 MWP / 69.9 MWAC capacity.
As of end-June 2025, the DOE has approved 78 System Impact Study (SIS) endorsements for the year—63 renewable, 13 storage, and 2 conventional projects. The SIS process evaluates each project’s compatibility with the national grid, helping ensure stable integration and energy reliability.
